Educational systems

The systems on offer each comprise two key commodities:

  • Modern technical apparatus to investigate compelling natural phenomena
  • An complete set of resources for both students and educators designed in a best-practice teaching framework designed to foster curiosity and cultivate competency

The goal of these systems is to provide students with a meaningful investigative scientific experience, especially in situations where educators may not have the technical know-how, the training in experimentation, or the time to develop a meaningful and modern lab program.

Measurement of the speed of light using adjacent modes of a laser cavity

The laser revolutionised how science was conducted, and underpins many aspects of how society now operates, and yet exploration of laser physics is not content typical to undergraduate labs, but rather they are used as a tool, providing a ready source of coherent light. In this experiment, the basic optical principles of a laser are used to extract an accurate measurement of the speed of light. Whilst the experiment involves laser and optical systems, interferometry is performed in the radio-frequency domain, providing exposure to signal processing techniques.
